Dr. Andrea Pautsch

Dr. Andrea Pautsch studied chemistry at the Technical University of Clausthal. She completed her studies with a doctorate in engineering, whereby she wrote her dissertation at the Institute for Petroleum and Natural Gas Research Clausthal.

As a registered patent attorney at the German Patent and Trademark Office and as a European Trademark and Design Attorney before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) Dr. Andrea Pautsch is active in patent, trademark and design matters, in particular in grant and registration proceedings as well as in infringement matters.

Through her activities in the petroleum, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries as well as through her work as a registered patent attorney, Dr. Andrea Pautsch has experience in the field of industrial chemistry, in particular in the fields of polymers, coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers and composite materials, as well as in the fields of chemical technology, pharmaceutical and cosmetic chemistry.

Dr. Sonja Schwarzer

Dr. Sonja Schwarzer studied chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Cape Town. She completed her PhD in biochemistry with a focus on molecular biology, followed by a postdoctoral period at the University of Stellenbosch. Dr. Sonja Schwarzer then moved to Europe and worked for a global biotechnology company with European headquarters in the UK in the field of high-tech laboratory equipment for molecular diagnostics. She has experience in the regulation of gene expression.

After further training in the patent system, Dr. Sonja Schwarzer has profound knowledge in national and European patent law and has been working as a patent professional ever since. Within the scope of industrial property protection, she formulates patent applications, defends patent applications in the examination procedure or appeal or opposition, carries out patent searches and examines new technical developments for protectability.

Felix Borchert

Felix Borchert studied electrical engineering and information technology at the Technical University in Munich. His focus in the Master's programme was the field of "Bioengineering & Life Science". The graduate engineer (TUM) is a patent attorney candidate. The drafting of patent, utility model, trade mark and design applications and assisting clients in examination proceedings before the European Patent Office and the German Patent and Trade Mark Office are among his core areas of practice. Furthermore, he assists in nullity, cancellation and infringement proceedings.

He has worked in plant engineering for mixing and separation systems for biopharmaceutical applications and has practical knowledge in the fields of validation and qualification in plant engineering.
